Introducing our VP

A note from Tamara Melito

Good day everyone,

My name is Tamara Melito, and I am truly honoured to be a part of the Welland-Port Colborne Concert Association (WPCCA) as the new Vice President. I’ve always valued the power of music to bring people together, to inspire, and to create memorable experiences – which is one of the reasons I wanted to get involved here.

I began volunteering with the WPCCA in 2023, helping to collect tickets at the door. The association was so inspiring, and working with such talented, enthusiastic individuals, I wanted to play a bigger role. In 2024 I joined the Artistic Selection Committee, helping to bring talented live artists/performers to our community stage.

Professionally, I am a Registered Dental Hygienist by trade, but my musical life has surrounded me since the age of 7, when I began taking piano lessons from Ted Ellis (Past President of the WPCA). Participating in countless recitals, and festivals in the Niagara Region over the years, I love the art of performing live, and engaging the audience. Now in my 40’s, Ted and I have formed the “TNT” piano duo, where we host a large fundraising event, “Music for Meals,” every spring. We collaborate with talented local professional musicians, to create a wonderful, annual concert to raise money for the Hope Centre in Welland and the Open Arms Mission.

Personally, I reside in Fonthill with my husband, two sons, (Michael, 12, and Torsten, 11), and our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Elsa. I enjoy running, acrylic painting, reading, and being outdoors.

Music is such an important aspect of life, creating emotions, memories, and impacting so many aspects of human culture. I urge you to come and be a part of the Welland-Port Colborne Concert Association. Whether it be collecting tickets, helping to decorate the stage, handing out programs, or just sitting on the board and offering ideas. You will enjoy good company, learn from intellectual musical experts and be involved with a committee that is passionate about bringing live music to the community, that inspires the soul and unites us all.
